Before the interview
Read the embassy or consulate's own instructions carefully. Appointment procedures, document delivery, medical examinations, and security rules are set by each post and are not uniform worldwide.
Assemble documents in the order the post requests, and confirm the validity of your passport and the completeness of your application.
During and after
Interviews are typically brief. Answer directly and consistently with your application. If the officer refuses the application, they will identify the legal provision relied upon; if the case is placed in administrative processing, further review is required before a decision.
Do not make travel or employment commitments based on an assumption that a visa will be issued on a particular date.
